I think of my Mother often and do not even know why I started looking up Bo Lisman, but I did and I came across your article. Our families lives crossed paths many years ago, before we were even born. As I got older and and my Mom would reminisce about her youth briefly, Bo Lismans name came up. At one brief time in their single lives they dated. It has been many years since that conversation, but she spoke of him fondly and thought he was a charming fellow. I would have to ask my brother and sister if they knew more, but I believe Bo proposed to my Mother. She obviously said no, I believe because she had met my father and things went from there. I think I might even have an old picture amongst family pics of your Grandfather. It just reminded me of how very short lives are and how many people come and go in our travels. I hope this finds you enjoying life and telling many great stories of memories of your Grandfather. Sincerely, C. Kerns

Any idea what size that Indian would be? maybe 45" handicap, racing 30:50 OHV or racing against other 45" flatheads?

I’m not sure exactly, but if I was guessing you are correct.

Thanks for the kind words. I enjoyed putting this together and was hoping it would reach out to those that are interested in the early days of racing.

I have one of Bo Lisman's race bikes, as used at Ascot in 1938-'39; a '31 101 chassis with a heavily modified 1928 101 engine, 45" .
Extremely high pop-up on the pistons (5/16") with heads relieved to match, and oversized valves. Relatively mild cam timing, but with a higher lift than most.
